If I had a choice, I would spend the whole day reading The Selby in bed. Maybe also Wildfox.
Maybe dismantle my sister's bed and shift it back to her room so I can have all the space to myself again! Maybe soon. This one I promise.

But I had some better things to do today.
Like, shaking myself awake in the morning (Sunday morning, at that) to go to the gym with Hazel. Run on the threadmill instead of lying comatose on my warm comfy bed. Have lunch with the boyfriend. Nap while he watches The Office.
Productivity takes on different definitions in different contexts. I'd say I'm pretty darn productive today.

Now that we're three quarters into the year, I've finally decided to set some long-term goals instead of blinding diving into impulsive decisions. For one, lose the Freshman Fifteen. Not that I've gained exactly fifteen pounds in my freshman year, but still. Wake up earlier to fight for space in the library to do some readings. And also to cut down on cab rides.
Not quite inspiring I know. But baby steps... baby steps.

I have less than fourteen days left till my first big project this term would be due. Time to think...

100% satisfied

That said,
I promised myself this afternoon that there will be no supper tonight, having stuffed myself to the brim the whole day through...
but (you know there's always a but) as I exited the shower, teeth brushed and everything, my mom Just had to be done warming up braised meat from the morning. Just had to.
With eggs. And beancurd.
And she happens to make atrociously delicious braised meat. Tres manifique.
So.
Here I am, with half a bowl of braised meat and rice left.

Saturday was awesome!

My boyfriend took forever in the headphone shop and came out with nothing... ): The shopkeeper (?) felt sorry for me and gave me a yo-yo. Not like I know how to play but it's so cute hahaha.

Then we trekked down to *scape for Once Upon a Milkshake under the recommendation of my (now ex-)colleague. Om nom.

It was also then that it occurred to me that I might be too old for flea markets overcrowded with teens half a decade younger now.
The audacity of the thought.

My shoulders are torched and bronzey from senior's camp on Saturday.
Thank God I wore sunscreen on my face!

Saturday/Sunday were also cook-in days at the boyfriend's place.
I planned two dishes, but because I was so thrashed after senior's camp I only managed one. Dy cooked the rest. Hahaha.

I managed: Bokchoy with bacon & chicken,
Dy whipped up the (adulterated version of) aglio e olio aaaaaand poached apples with vanilla icecream. My boyfriend is awesome heh.

Slept through nearly the whole of Sunday, only waking up for lunch (which dy cooked) and dinner (pratas!)

Weekend well spent. Heh.

I can't believe today is a Wednesday. I know on the blogger's time-stamp it is currently Thursday. But don't be fooled. (I am in denial.)

The boyfriend went out with his friends today. Sans moi, of course. I'm not being bitter, though. Weekdays are for staying in. So are weekends, in my father's case. He has forbidden me to stay out because I need to set a good example for my sister. Who is, by the way, four years Older than I am. We have a wrecked family hierarchy system, as you can tell.
But that is not that point. Not that I have any points going on, but.

I spent the entire day... sleeping. I would say. Course registration in the morning was a Terror. And then when the day breaks I will have Another one. For Hazel.
Then again that's not the point. The point is that I will have trouble falling asleep tonight.
I am yearning for some wine. Chilled chardonnay. OR rose. I don't even mind some cheap red wine.
(I suppose this is the time to say that I miss Europe. Land of the Cheap Alcohols.)

I would like to say that I had a very good day. A day spent in bed surely beats a day spent outside in the warm humidity that is Singapore's weather. To beat that, I had McDonald's for breakfast. That's ultimately something to celebrate.

I guess by now you should have realized that I am trying to make myself feel a little more positive about having nothing going on in my life. It's not that there is nothing coming up. Of course not. With a twist of fate, something has fallen in my plate from the sky, but will not affect me until about a month later.
On hindsight, not that I'm being negative about having nothing going on in my life. More time for gibberish, as you can tell.

Perhaps tomorrow will be a better day. With wine!

Pont Mairie

This is in Pont Mairie, one of my favourite places in Paris. Also the place where I got lost for approximately 5 hours thanks to a friend.

I have some really awesome photos of this place, all in very vivid colours because the weather was really good and it was a really colourful (not just metaphorically) district.
Here are some.

I don't know what is this place because I skipped the cultural class where the lecturer was explaining the sites and sights that we were going to visit! Looks pretty awesome though.

This is a medieval house (I think). With its exterior composing almost entirely of wood. Awesome.

So Paris is really known for their sweet pastries... there were many patissieries there where my friends went batshit crazy. Too bad I don't have much of a sweet tooth for such (except when they are baked by my boyfriend.)

FALAFEL. It was Fantastic. Until I found out that it was beef -.- (I don't eat beef for personal reasons.) The second time I was back with my friend, we had vegetarian falafel balls. Still pretty awesome I would say.

So I went out with my best friend today. It was pretty awesome. I'd some nice shoes on and thought it was amazing how simple fabrics/materials can determine how a person feels about him/herself.

We had nice food for lunch. I use the word "nice" too much, but that's not the point. I've been spending way beyond my means. That's not smart.
(But I live to eat, so.)

I should conclude by saying that I AM going to try to actively look out for temporary jobs so my mom can stop rattling on about me being a bum (!) and leeching off her and my sister (!!). Family can be so cruel.

I've been on the bus for an hour now.
I think we're only halfway through the journey. Maybe nearing the end. I'm not so sure.
It's funny because I had so much time on hand, I decided I would take a random bus to wherever and alight where and when I wanted. And that's when I realized how strange it was that the stations are pitstops for some, destinations for others. Like how our lives are intricately intertwined but so dramatically different.
I don't know.
I've been bloghopping, and it seems like everyone is a friend of everyone else in singapore, yet we're bumping shoulders with people we've never met, every single day of our life.
Is it just me?

Anyway I'm glad to have the data connection on my phone.. Bus rides are more entertaining than ever now.
And yes I'm typing on my blackberry.

Haven't been very well. Still jetlagged after all these days and I'm having some difficulties adjusting back to local food. Which is retarded if you ask me.

Decided I would blog backwards about my trip, starting with Venice:
(which was not one of my favourite places, too touristy...)

One of the specialty alcoholic drinks (Spritz)... I liked it. Ha.//
These nutellas were mother gigantic. Not your average family size nutella.

One of the things I really missed about Italy was the odd pizza joint that served really cheap slices of pizzas all cripsy and piping hot.

I miss Paris...

SO.
I went and got my long hair lopped off today. So stupid. Now I have some Really thick shoulder-length hair that looks pretty awkward with my fat face. Still haven't ran today. Not good.

I spent the last couple of days doing laundry and I'm finally done... I think. I really have too much clothes and I should say it helps that my sister is destroying them (by borrowing without permission AND ruining them in the process) at a rather regular rate but that pisses me off quite a bit.
Hrummph. Should lock my clothes up in a chest.

Under the weather

I went to town today. Spent less than I usually would, ate hardly anything, spoke without thinking during my interview. I think my sub-conscience was trying to ruin any chance of me scoring (yeah, right) an internship.
Perhaps for a good cause. I don't know. I was Really tired, though. Haven't been able to sleep off the jetlag.

So anyway,
I've finally gotten around to use my Blackberry plan... I can see why people become Crackberry addicts. But I. Have. Control...
I will not succumb.

I should sleep now.
But I should also mention that over dinner, two caucasian ladies walked into my line of vision, and that shocked me a bit. Which was strange because I spent a month and a half in the land of the Europeans and shouldn't have batted an eyelid at the very least...?

I had a really good day today. My first day in Singapore after 6 weeks of making hotels my home.

I was welcomed home by my parents and my boyfriend last night, all patient and smiling and happy in spite of the fact that I had spent an hour in the duty free department stocking up on my favourite stuff... (all involving alcohol, but not all edible/drinkable)
We were then immediately whisked off to my favouriiiiiiiite 24/7 hawker centre for some Singaporean fare. Super. Awesome. Later on in the night dy also made me his Specialty noodles (AND cookies too).

So loved.

I should sleep now... tomorrow is a day of possibilities, and I don't just mean it figuratively.

Having the First hamburger Ever (2nd one to come... for supper)
Trying Italian (Venezian) coffee
Buying a top from the United Colors of Benetton (which supposedly isn't on sale, but comes with a Special Price of 30% off)
Finding 3 bottles of Bellini at only 4.50 euros (as compared to 10 euros in souvenir shops)
Finding hot water in the hotel for cup noodles (for dinnerrr)

Ciao!

I've been awake since 10am. It's 12pm now and I'd just successfully carried out a sneak mission (Project Pizza).
You see, having been left alone since 9am I got hungry and had enough of bread/chips in the room. SO. At 11.30am I pulled out my selection of grey tees, picked one, donned my sunglasses and ran out of the Milanese penthouse that is our hotel (I am slightly exaggerating, it's not that great) and in the process refused to drop the key at the reception when told to do so.

(AIM: Buy lunch before sister returns to hotel.)

Two streets down, left turn.
There was a flea market going on. Random flea markets on a Thursday morning are distracting. But I pushed on.
1 more street down.
SUCCESS... My sister is still nowhere in sight.
Two euros down, a margherita pizza slice in hand. My favourite.
Two shops ahead was a gelateria. Another two euros down.
With a pizza in one hand and icecream in the other I crossed the streets hurriedly and ran back. One street down, right turn, two streets back.

Pizza in bed. The taste of sweet success.

With luck, my sister will be back with another slice of margherita. (Knowing her, however, she'll probably return with some crappy sandwiches. Girl has a penchant for rabbit food.)

The people are nice. They speak in superspeed tonguerolling Italiano. I cannot comprehend, but they smile a lot. So I assume they're nice.
There are a lot of creeps around here. More than in Amsterdam, I would say. That's something.
My sister nearly got pickpocketed. And then today she refused to get off the station when I told her to. Which delayed our schedule by about an hour. I like to call her a dumbass. I shouldn't, though.

So, we went shopping today...
I got some branded (Calvin Klein- woo Eva Mendes semi-naked) lingerie, a Furla watch and a pair of Asics trainers and only exceeded my budget by a wee bit. This is what I call Retail Therapy.
(With the trainers I hope I will run away what I call my hearty italian weight. Although the possibilities are very slight.)

Hello allll
I'm in rome now, blogging from my iPod in the hotel lobby. It's been a lot of sun, a lot of gelato, and a whole lot of bad temper on my part. My luggage is insanely overweight. I don't know what's inside.

We went to the Vatican city and the basilica today. An hour's queue to go into the vatican. 320 steps up and down the cupola in the basilica. My legs are dying. This is crazy.

Last night was spent in a prison like cell with a shared toilet. Tonight we get an airconditioned room with our own attached toilet. Need to learn to count my blessings.

So far food hasn't been that great. Maybe tomorrow will be better.

Quite lame. But not too bad.

We're on an eight hour bus journey to Amsterdam. It's currently five thirty in the morning and it's easy to see that everything outside the bus windows are wrapped around in a fog of cold, frosty mist.
The warmest thing I'm wearing is a trench coat. Hardly insulating.

I think we're already in some remote part of the Netherlands... I looked out once and tried to imagine how it would be like to be stranded outside with million of paths and kilometres to walk. Creepy. Beautiful. The world outside is unimaginable.

My friends have fallen asleep again. Maybe now is my turn. More later.

Short update:

Very cold here. Should have packed for winter, not summer!
No wifi here except during schooldays.
Most shops are not open on Sunday, which is Today.
Nevertheless we found a very quaint bakery(boulangerie here) and bought some really good pastries. Maybe I'll go back tomorrow and get some good macarons.

It's 9.35pm in Singapore. Only 3.35pm in Paris. I'm sleepy.

I've been packing forever. I swear.

I haven't gotten my travel insurance. Everything is a bit insane. I don't know what to do.

Wedding today!
Not mine, but my cousin's. You know how you start to feel like a million years old when the people you are close to start to get married? Exactly how I feel.

So anyway, in tandem with most Chinese wedding ceremonies, we had a multi-course dinner... the kind where people try to stuff themselves to the brim to try to make their angpao money worth, you know? I was one of them.
However.
Merely two hours after I reached home, for some God-forsaken, inexplicable reason, I am STARVING AGAIN.
This happens every night. Not the wedding of course, but the irritating peckishness that never cease to go away the moment it begins...
(I dare not step on the weighing scale anymore, for fear of suicidal tendencies.)
I hope I'm not pregnant. Because if I am, I will have to take on the role of the next Mother Mary and I don't know how to feel about spearheading a new religion. And of course, go through the terrifying process that is childbirth.
It's cool that people start to develop motherly instincts to have a baby when they grow old... because why in the world would you ever want that to happen? Have someone cut at your vajayjay to allow a little bugger to push through while you go through the worst pain a living person would ever have to?
Clearly I'm not at that stage yet.

So please, God... I hope I'm only going through PMS.

We just hid after ringing the doorbell and jumped up at her screaming "Happy Birthday!!!" in the end, hahaha... and she really got a shock, which means that the surprise was a success! :D

I can't believe it's Saturday!? It was fairly busy this week but I managed to meet up with my new France exchange mates and had a haircut so it was all good!

I had a lot of stuff going on in my head this afternoon. But I forgot. I forget. I always do.

I'm thinking of chopping my hair length a little shorter to free my scalp a little.
I hate haircuts. But I'll do it. Maybe tomorrow.

A few days left before I leave. I'm a bit jittery. Haven't seen my boyfriend in three days. Probably won't see him for three months. I am exaggerating of course. But it's becoming a long-distance relationship. Man, who would have expected this?

Anyway, I'll also be leaving my little tuition kid behind. It's quite funny. He's so stressed. I don't remember being so stressed at 16. I had quite a bit of fun.
I think I'll do a little something for him tomorrow. Go to Bras Basah and find him some good Ten-Year series. Maybe a nice, ergonomic pen for him to use so he wouldn't injure himself from gripping his Pilot G-2 pen too tightly. Boy has got to learn to relax.

On another note, I bought too much stuff lately. Two tops for $10, I mean, who could resist? I also arranged to buy a dress and a connector ring for slightly under $20. I need to stop. I don't think I'll be able to fit everything in my suitcase. I'll probably only have enough space for 2 sweaters, 2 jeans and 5 teeshirts anyway. I think it might be too cold to wear shorts. I don't know.
And I just realized that half my wardrobe is filled with shorts. HALF! Who would have thought that i might have so many pairs of shorts. Gee.

Should I start packing yet? These days are just floating by like sweeping pages in a book. I can't keep track of the date anymore, but I know this weekend I'll be having quite a bit of fun... I have fun every weekend. This is how I want to remember my Summer 2010 by. A little joy every week.

Oh and before I forget, my lovely friends bought me a very, very nice blazer for my birthday. Just wanna write this down in my online journal so if I ever read my archives, I have something to smile about.

We're missing Hazel and Jazlyn here. And of course, Pei and Nut who are in different continents (from us) right now.

It's four am, I'm lying in the bed, still surfing on my itouch (codename: bitch2) with my sister fast asleep beside me, nudging me occasionally to figure out- all while in her sleepy stupor- why her little sister's glowing with a strange light at four am.

Now wasn't that a long sentence.

Birthday's over... Can't get over the fact that I'm twenty now. All two decades full of age.
I didn't have an extraordinary time. No extraordinary presents. Not yet, maybe? But I like it this way. No fuss. If I had spent twenty years living the way I did, why should my birthday be any different? I never liked fancy cakes, birthday songs (don't like being in the centre of attention for the entire duration of the song - in st nicks it was worse, the typical birthday song is sang in English, mandarin, then Both), all that fanfare.
I had a date with my best friend which involve her having an hr long ( or was it longer?) hair cut, with me roaming around the place, buying lipglosses and taking forever in the toilet just because, and being asked if I was Malay... That's quite a compliment if you ask me. They (generally) have really pretty eyes :> (yes you, Mirah)

We had an ordinary date, I had some really practical and functional presents ( don't be mistaken - those are my favourite type): havaianas (thanks Mirah, Rox), awesome dinner (thanks yappy), bergamot perfume (thanks sis), shoes, and some others that I bought with the birthday money from daddy :3 pretty damn contented really.

Is this a very long post? I can't tell :/

I feel like having an adventure soon. Come monday we (Mirah, Rox and I) are going to do something out of the blue... Picnic :D I love picnics...
Maybe tomorrow I will venture somewhere I haven't been to. Or fix something. Try something new.

SO I'm home, for like ever now..
My stuff are in the boot of the car, in the multistorey carpark some distance away, and nobody would help me to drive the car down so I could unload my baggage. AND I CAN'T EVEN DO IT MYSELF, I'll probably hit some curb on the way down and die or something.
Like, half of my possessions are in the car now. I don't even know what's there. They say if you don't know what you're missing then there's no harm done, but GOD what if there's a kitten in there, suffocating right now while I'm still typing away in oblivion?
Not that I have a kitten, but maybe a slab of chocolate that'd melt in the sun when morning comes?

I guess meanwhile I should think about how to hide all the stuff I've got so the house doesn't seem like the garbage man came and dumped the stuff in the wrong place. I have WAY too much stuff, gosh. I should go to the Salvation Army and drop some stuff off and maybe go thrift shopping, but then again I can't drive and I've overspent my allowance for taxis this month.

I have 25 days left in Singapore.

Haven't been away for really long before.
I've gone to Australia to study for a few days. A week? A little more? I can't remember, I was half my age now.
I've gone to Taiwan/Taipei for 10 days. I felt really homesick then.
The rest of the times I've always been with my family. I think. My memory isn't really working.

To be honest, I'm looking forward to it. Packing, leaving on the plane. I like going away. I also like coming back. I don't know what to expect, but I know I will have fun.
But I dare not count the days I'll be away, the number of days till I'm back here.

It's only going to be a while. Or so I tell myself!

Hello y'all.
SO
We are done with most of the papers... 2 more and it's PARTY TIME.
I'm actually freaking out about how badly I'd do but Whatever. I've prayed a lot and I'm not going to cry over spilt milk (if any).

Over the short period of examinations (still ongoing), I found myself - like Mirah (heehee) - turning to online shopping as some form of therapy... I haven't calculated how much I spent, but since I've yet to run out of cash I suppose it's not that bad. I picked up some beauty products (gee I never do get around to use them but whatever), a skirt, earrings, and some other random pieces of clothing now I feel so satisfied! I foresee the wardrobe bursting when I move home next week. Maybe I'll get an extension from IKEA and in the process kick my sister's bed out of my room.

So summer is coming REAL soon... I hope to get a short summer job or something because it's never a bad idea to have some pocket change. Here's a picture from Fyeahhappy, also my goal this summer (along with gym visitations, trying out veganism and trying to sneak a kitten home...)

I finished a paper, got a hair trim for under four buckeroos (yes you read right), returned home and trimmed some more on my own, had a very good dinner with dy and mommy, followed by ice cream. So fulfilling :D
I also bought a pair of shoes. Now my boyfriend cannot bug me for wearing only slippers all the time.

So it's three thirty three at night, I'm still chasing the ever elusive Sleep, to no avail...
I also chanced upon an old diary of mine, back when I was seventeen, into poetry and self-harm. I don't remember those days anymore.

That's a lie.
But in all honesty, I don't remember writing those words, but I do remember a friend reading it and telling me my pain hurt him... We are no longer friends at this point in time though. My loss.

Just a few days back, my best friend asked if I realized that at a point in time, in life, we would start to see significant people (to us, at least) walking out of our lives.
I told her that it must be a personal decision that it is so.
She didn't agree, but till this very second I would still like to stand uncorrected.

I would still like to have my friends back though.

Yesterday, I bought an umbrella... not something I'd always wanted. More like a need perhaps, but I've braved about 2 semesters without an umbrella and got through thunderstorms in my hoodies/by sleeping in.... so not really a need either.

I also spent some good money buying food I don't like, drinks I don't need... the best part of the day was giving Yappy two Ribena pastilles and being gifted a whole box in return. Karma is good.
